Amen to all that is said. The only kind of elder when I left was those who walked lock step with the gb. In my last two years as a elder and being a P.O. I had to go to Patterson for a week of bull s__t. That is exactly what it was. Most of it was keeping everyone in line and organizational things. I was waking up at the time and I did have access to the library there. And I did get to see the old bound volumes in the forties that still showed the cross on the front cover of the wt. That proved to me what I was learning on this site was true. Here is where you find true heart in many here. Still Totally ADD

Brothers with hearts. Where are they?
by stillin inone poster here mentioned how, after he was appointed as an elder, things took on a more "corporate" feel.
i was an ms and as such went, dutifully, to the bi-annual meetings with the co. i was sorely disappointed.
i had imagined sort of a round-table discussion of trends and potential difficulties in the congregation, along with a coordinated effort to help people out.

Does Your Family or Friends Call To Check to See How You Are Doing?
by minimus ini ask this because i have noticed that many people in your life just don’t communicate like they could.. i realize i come from a different generation but does anybody ever use the phone and give someone a call?
i know of people who never answer their phone unless they listen to a message that would be left.
you are lucky if you get a text..

Minimus I agree with you on your thinking. It seems if you are not on facebook, have a cell phone/type writer or e-mailed hardly ever use the phone. The only time they would call me is to ask me if I read their e-mail they sent me or have you look at Facebook. I would tell them no and if you want me to know something please give me a call on the phone. You would think I ask them to eat poison by their reaction. This era we live it where no one wants to talk to another person on the phone is very baffling to me. I feel this society we live in where everyone feels they need to be connected to everyone 24-7 is emotionally troubling. This site is the only thing I am on which requires me to look it up on the computer and read what others have to say. If I don't want to I don't have to.
As far as my family is concerned they don't ever check up on us. After all we are mentally disease now. My new friends ask me weekly how I am doing. Still Totally ADD

I feel most people who are converts who came into this cult are looking for love and stability in their life's. Those who are born-in's only know cult love. In both cases the idea of showing love to one another is wrap by cult teachings. How could anyone have a healthy outlook on showing love to one another when one of your basic beliefs is everyone on this planet is going to be killed by the god you worship? The us against them mentality this cult has cultivated has caused a thinking where everyone in the organizationis is even against each other. This is why the jw's religion robs them of their normal humanity. Anyway that's my thought on this subject. Still Totally ADD

My JW Elder Brother Passed Away
by minimus inhe was basically a good man, just a believer in the religion.
when we were both elders we were best of friends and then things deteriorated when i was not an elder for a while.
then after becoming an elder again, i slowly drifted away from the religion and he drifted further away from me.

Last Sunday on 60 mins. TV program they had a segment on this. It's only in the beginning stages but the one thing I did glean from it was if true it will become a multi- billion dollar business. Again it's not about helping people but more about making money. But it is amazing what they may be able to do. Still Totally ADD

Think about this! All the signs of the last days from Matt.24. That jw's point to, happened in the 1st half of the last century!
by nowwhat? inand now it's 2018 and we are still here.
that's like saying back in 1930 the events of the civil war show we are in the last days!
it has now been that long!.

I think I would like to have been around in 1799. Lol. Some how the steam engine was part of the sign of the last days at one time for the wt. With that thinking are we not in the 4th century of the last days? I had often wonder when I was a kid how writings from 2000 years ago applied to us. It would be like we could predict what would happen to humans in the year 4018. Still Totally ADD

Support groups to assist individuals to leave high control groups such as Jehovah's witnesses
by UnshackleTheChains injust watched ' one of us' on netflix about individuals who are trying to leave the hasidic orthodox jewish faith group (a high control group within judaism).. i found it interesting as those who rebel or leave are virtually ostracized from their community.
the documentary is an eye opener into their highly insular community.
one of the things i thought interesting is that there is a support group called footsteps to help hasidic jews wanting to leave the strict insular way of life so that they can move on with their lives.. this got me thinking.

All good information. We are using some of this for our little X-Cult group. We have 5-6 in our group. All from different backgrounds. I have learned that all cult's have the same M-O also it has reinforce my thinking I was in a cult. It is good for all of us to research this. Still Totally ADD

So let me get this right about what your saying about Jesus!
by nowwhat? injesus the non judgmental man who ate with sinners, fed the hungry, showed compassion for the poor, and who wanted mercy not sacrifice is the going to be leading the charge out of heaven with fire in eyes and out for blood.
killing 99.9 % of all men, women and children on earth.
because they didn't heed some obscure religious group that hadn't gotten one bible prophecy right in almost 150 years?!
